Limits!!!!

It seems to me, that limits seem to the start of the end for me.
I'm still having trouble with limit problems like horizontal asymptotes. i think those are the ones you ca plug numbers in
also the simplifying to get the end behavior model i still don't know how to properly simplify :/it gets confusing
finally limits involving infinity. the problem with these is that i can't plug in numbers into this so i freeze on test, comme toujours :(

It seems math is starting to kill me!
let's hope i survive and limits don't end me!

3 Majors and 3 Schools

Major: Social Psychology

I've always loved Psychology and observing how people act in groups is even better. I want to see the effects of peer pressure and I would love to conduct a study in where I test if people with a higher I.Q. are more, less or as equally susceptible to peer pressure and influence from people they trust. This mixed in with the roles of women in their lives and what the hold dear would surely make anyone fall. I learned the Social Psychology is not always just about the way they act

Major: Film Production;

Making movies is something that i never knew i liked until i made one, and in College i hope to take my film making to the next level. I learned and look foward to that in College i will get to make short films for class and I will move around the camera, like working with lights, post production sound and all that fun stuff :0

Major: School Psychology;

When i first saw this i was like whoa! this is what i always wondered about! These psychologists analyze why kids in school act like they do, why the kids are failing and don't care? or why the kid next to you yells at the teacher for no reason. I learned that these people study the behavior of these students an against their hormones and how all the factors of being a teen or child in school while everyone is around you going crazy.

USC School of Cinema;

This school is one the best film schools in the whole United States and they have many famous alumni who have given back to the schools film department, Like Robert Zemeckis, with the money they receive they can afford all the new technologies that are required to make movies in the 21st Century. They boast a 300+ Seat theater for the film students, with full THX Sound and
full range motion capture studio for animated movies!

UCLA Psychology

This school is famous for many things like its sports teams but, they just launched a new study for the Psychology department and their new study focuses on other factors that are beyond the obvious like race and sexual orientation. With this study they hope to find patterns in Minority behaviors who are usually shamed when it comes to psychological problems. Coming from a community where everyone is scared to go to the hospital, I feel that the newer generations will benfit the most from this study and would like to see the results up close in school or in real life

Stanford Psychology

Stanford is the number one ranked school for Psychology in the nation for more than fifty years. Students of this major at the school can work closely with the MRI Machines where professes are currently working hard to find the causes and cures for depression. But they start even younger by working with nursery to study infants

i also chose these 3 school because they are all in California

Tips,Hints, and Tips and Hints!

1.) hmmmm Well i remeber transformations by looking at the function, say it was like (x^2-2)-3i look for the parent function!
this is where the fun starts! i see how the function was changed and skewed. The way i remember it is the changes that occur in the parentheses alwyas mean that something is being changed on the x-axis and things outside are for the y-axis. It's just like the rest of math, where the x,y coordinates are in ABC Order :I

2.) Back when I just started taking Trig, Ihad a lot of trouble memorizing all the coordinates in the unit circle,but slowly I invented away I could see a point and know exactly what it's coordinates were. The way i remembered was always in reference to Cosine, or the x in the coordinate plane. So if i saw anything over six, I automatically knew that the Cosine would be √3/2, and th reason i knew was because the 3 MULTIPLIED by 2 is 6 :).
Also if i saw aanything over 3, knew that it would be some form of 1/2, because 1 PLUS 2 is 3 [:
and the easy one was or course the ones over 4, which were √2/2.

3.) Things that still worryuabout me about Trig is things like factoring and law of cosines, i always ghave trouble memorizing lots of formulas and things, thats why i was scared for Calc becauase i knew i woujld have to learn and memorize a lot formulas.

Logs and Inverses

This week we went through logs and inverses.
Having never worked with these i was completely new at this.
I tried my best to understand this and if i understood correctly then 4 concepts i learned were;

Logs are the opposite of squares and when used correctly we can use them to get rid of them


ummm also inverses are reflected about the y=x line also if a function is one-to-one then that means that their inverse is also a funtion,

i am still on very skaky ground when understanding the concepts and the practice of logs and inverses. graphically i understand it, but when it comes to the concrete math portion i still have alot of trouble understanding how to work with logs :/

Even-Odd Functions, What's The Difference?

The definition of an Even Function is a function that is symmetrical about the Y-axis, and an odd function is one that is symmetrical about the origin.

if this doesn't make sense then it's about to get a whole lot trickier.

in math forms even looks more like this :
even function of x is f(-x) = f(x),

and

odd function of x is f(-x) = -f(x),

the reason that the mathematical version is the same as the less mathematical version waaay up there is because simply;
anything squared is always positive, for example 10^2 = 100 or -3^2 still equals a positive number, number 9.

so no matter what what ever one inputs as an input will always come out as a reflection ab out the Y-axis.

Now, we're over the Even, i will go over the Odd Functions

if u remember odd functions look like this f(-x) = -f(x)

this means that for every function put in to the function box-machine it will become a complete reflection about the origin this means that the one and only output for said input will be negative.
x= 1 will become -1 and f(x) will become -1 if it orininally was 1 in the first quadrant.

Pre Calc felt really long, but it's all over now.

And as far as I can remember I've been good at Math but always hated it.
Lately I've started to like it and I seem to do worse in it.
Calculus seems fun and an exiting new subject for me. But the hardest parts will be;
Understanding the new stuff,
Learning all the crazy magic that is Calculus,and
Unlearning everything I've ever learned to understand his class.
Sooooo Calculus here I come!

I like playing guitar and hang our with my friends, or do both a the same time!
I like to sing and have fun at other peoples expense!

I will keep you posted for these 6 Months, and I hope I survive.
